Pages that should rank but carry a noindex meta tag, X-Robots-Tag header, or robots.txt block — invisible to Google, can't rank.
The single most common ranking issue we see in scans: a `<meta name="robots" content="noindex">` left over from a staging deploy, an X-Robots-Tag header set on the wrong route, or a `Disallow: /` line in robots.txt that blocks the root accidentally. Google literally cannot rank pages it can't index. Check every page intended to rank for `meta robots`, `X-Robots-Tag`, and the matching robots.txt rule.
LCP, CLS, INP — Google's page-experience signals. Sites in the green get a ranking nudge; sites in the red get penalised.
Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) under 2.5s, Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) under 0.1, Interaction to Next Paint (INP) under 200ms. The biggest wins: serve images at the right size with explicit width/height attributes (kills CLS), preload the hero image, defer or async every non-critical script, ship gzip/brotli compression on text assets, set Cache-Control max-age on hashed assets. Title tags are still the single biggest on-page ranking factor. Missing or duplicate ones leave traffic on the table.
Every page intended to rank should have a unique title tag of 50–60 characters with the primary keyword near the front. Meta descriptions don't directly affect rankings but they affect click-through, which feeds back into rankings. 120–160 characters, action-oriented, includes the keyword. The SEO agent flags missing titles, duplicates, length-out-of-range, and titles that mismatch the H1 (a strong signal of ranking confusion).

Every page should target one search intent, with one H1, one canonical tag, and content that is meaningfully distinct from every other page on the site. Most common cause of cannibalisation: a blog post and a service page both ranking for "X consulting" — pick one as canonical, redirect the other or 410 it. Every page that should rank needs to be linked from a page that already ranks. Orphaned pages — present in the sitemap but with zero internal links pointing at them — almost never rank. Add contextual links from your highest-authority pages (homepage, top-traffic blog posts) to the under-ranked targets. The linking agent finds orphans and flags pages buried at depth 4+.

Pages with question-shaped H2s should declare FAQPage schema. Step-based guides should declare HowTo. Product pages need Product + Offers + AggregateRating. Google indexes mobile-first. A site that works on desktop but fails on mobile gets ranked from the worse version.
Viewport meta tag with `width=device-width, initial-scale=1` (without `maximum-scale=1` — that disables pinch-zoom and breaks accessibility). Tap targets ≥ 44×44 px. Text that doesn't require horizontal scroll at 360px viewport. Images that scale. Forms that hit 16px font-size to block iOS focus-zoom. HTTPS is a ranking signal. Mixed content + missing HSTS + weak CSP signal a site that hasn't been maintained.
Every URL should be HTTPS-only, with a 301 redirect from http://. HSTS (Strict-Transport-Security) on all responses with max-age ≥ 31536000. Mixed content (https page loading http subresources) breaks the lock icon and gets called out by Chrome. CSP, X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options, Referrer-Policy round out the security posture. Insecure sites lose ranking AND user trust.
A canonical sitemap.xml referenced in robots.txt is the cheapest crawl insurance. Most sites get this wrong.
Sitemap should live at the conventional path (/sitemap.xml or /sitemap_index.xml), be valid XML (not the SPA shell HTML — common Vercel / Next.js misconfiguration), reference each indexable URL, exclude noindex pages, and be referenced from robots.txt with `Sitemap: <full URL>`. The crawl-integrity agent fetches the sitemap, validates the XML, and flags origin mismatches (sitemap on www but site on apex, etc).
